Activities carried out as part of the artistic residency co-financed by the City of Poznań #poznanwspiera

Marta Węglińska’s residency focuses on a multilayered approach to the natural environment and on the sensual, bodily, and spiritual relationship between humans and nature. The interdisciplinary concept is grounded in careful and analytical observation of nature, which the artist has been conducting for several years within protected and environmentally valuable areas in Poland and Indonesia.

Places that hold particular significance for her become both inspiration and subjects of her photographs, paintings, and objects. The figures in her works immerse themselves in the landscape, blending seamlessly with the vegetation and becoming part of natural spaces. Here, humans are subject to the same mechanisms that shape the terrain. Water gradually carves valleys, shifts the course of rivers, and smooths rough stones—millimeter by millimeter, or at times with intensified force measured in meters—sculpting the landscape. Observing the natural environment draws attention to the continuous dynamism of changes taking place around us. The works developed during the artistic residency are connected with protected areas and sites of natural and cultural value in the regions of Greater Poland, Western Pomerania, the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, the Beskids, as well as selected areas of Indonesia.
