Wystawa prac Darii Bielienkov – W CIEMNI SIEBIE skupia się na różnorodnym podejściu do autoportretu i różnic wynikających z analogowych technik obrazowania. Fizyczna obecność artystki zapisana w materiale – od polaroidów po zapis wideo na starej taśmie, pozwoli spojrzeć na to jak Bielienkov postrzega pamięć. Wewnętrzna pulsacja, coś, co nieustannie na nią działa, kształtuje ją i z nią rezonuje. Pomimo różnorodności tematycznej realizowanych pomysłów jak i samego podejścia do nich, mamy do czynienia z pracami skupiającymi się zarówno na sensualnej fizyczności jak i na zabawie z formą. Najważniejszą warstwą do odkrycia pozostaje samo poszukiwanie i akceptacja niepewności efektu. Wystawa wydobywa na powierzchnię fizyczną emanację obecności Bielienkov i pozwala zadać pytanie: czy forma fotografii wpływa na odbiór danego autoportretu jak i samej artystki.

The exhibition of works by Daria Bielienkov – IN THE DARKROOM OF THE SELF – focuses on a diverse approach to self-portraiture and the differences stemming from analogue imaging techniques. The artist’s physical presence, imprinted in the material—from Polaroids to video recorded on old tape—allows us to explore how Bielienkov perceives memory. An internal pulsation, something that acts upon her continuously, shaping her and resonating with her.
Despite the thematic diversity of her concepts and the varied approaches she takes to them, we are presented with works that revolve around both sensual physicality and playful experimentation with form. The most important layer to uncover remains the search itself and the acceptance of uncertainty in the outcome. The exhibition brings to the surface the physical emanation of Bielienkov’s presence and allows us to ask: does the form of photography influence the reception of a given self-portrait, as well as of the artist herself?
Daria Bielienkov – absolwentka Uniwersytetu Artystycznego im. Magdaleny Abakanowicz w Poznaniu na kierunku fotografii. Członkini ZPAF. Głównym tematem działań twórczych artystki jest analiza procesu autokreacji. Prace, które realizuje są materializacją poszukiwań granicy, przejścia pomiędzy świadomym i nieświadomym. Często osadzone w świecie wyobraźni i fantazji, inspirowane literaturą, pełne mroku i tajemniczości. Swoje prace realizuje w technikach analogowych oraz cyfrowych. Interesuje ją również relacja polsko-niemiecka, która dotyka bezpośrednio rodziny artystki i jej funkcjonowania na terenach „poniemieckich”. Obserwując zmiany zachodzące na terenach Dolnego Śląska, tworzy swoje prace w oparciu o własne doświadczenia oraz materiały archiwalne. Pamięć miejsca, historia oraz czas to elementy nad którymi pracuję w danym momencie, skupiając się na fotografii analogowej.

Daria Bielienkov – a graduate of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań, where she studied photography. Member of ZPAF (Association of Polish Art Photographers). The main focus of her artistic practice is the analysis of the process of self-creation. Her works are a materialization of the search for a boundary—a passage between the conscious and the unconscious. Often situated in the realm of imagination and fantasy, inspired by literature, they are filled with darkness and mystery. She works with both analogue and digital techniques. She is also interested in Polish-German relations, which directly affect her family and its functioning in the so-called “post-German” territories. Observing the transformations occurring in Lower Silesia, she creates works based on her own experiences and archival materials. The memory of a place, history, and time are the elements she is currently working with, focusing especially on analogue photography.
